This visualization is intended to help your brain build an understanding of how to have mastery over blood vessel dilation and change blood flow around your head to reduce the intensity of migraine headache. Many individuals with migraines have reported that the cooling sensations that they create with this skill have lessened the intensity, duration, and associated symptoms with migraine headaches. Like Passive Sensory Attention, this skill may also release natural opioids.  We use a visualization to help your brain understand how to engage blood vessel dilation, but the visualization is not necessary. At any time you wish to disengage from the visualization and simply focus on the cooling sensations please feel free to do so.
